Customer Interviews No. 1

The opportunity I discussed with folks is something I've been contemplating for a few years now, the automation of swimming pool service. I live in South Florida where there is no shortage of swimming pools, so I went to a public venue to talk to folks, and talked to a neighbor as well. The questions I asked were:

1. Do you have a pool at your house?
2. Do you do your own pool maintenance?
3. Would it interest you to have a device that could automatically adjust your pool pump, turning it on and off based on the actual chlorination levels in your pool?
4. Have you heard of anything like this out in the market already?

After talking to folks I confirmed that there is a real opportunity here, though there is a slimmer market for it than I previously believed.

I did learn through the interview process that you have to really be prepared for the different directions that the interview can go based on the responses to your questions. I don't think a whole tree of possible responses is necessary, you just have to be prepared and really know your topic when interviewing potential customers.
